Capital District Permaculture Guild lot

The Capital District Permaculture Guild lot, created by Sharon Hoffman and Julia Von der Reith, is our longest running and largest project, taking up 4 city lots from 84-92 Catherine St.

The lot was used as a garbage dump, but with several long but rewarding work days we were able to get all of the garbage out.

One of the major components of the site has been education, as Sharon and Julia integrated lessons about what the techniques they were using to restore the land every step of the way.

The site now contains several areas, including an urban meadow with plants specially selected to remove toxins from the soil, a native flower garden and a shelter and water catchment system.
